Spring course on the internet…and beyond!

Friday, December 9th, 2011

The internet’s easy. Just type your question into Google, and up come 5 million websites with all the answers, right? Well think again, because the stuff you need for school may not be in that list, and you may not be able to find it unless you have some expert skills.

DPR 116 is a 3 credit course that will teach you how to find what you need to be a college super star, including using the World Wide Web to its full potential.  You will learn to use internet search engines more effectively and decipher which websites are credible.  You will also be introduced to the DEEP WEB and learn strategies to access the proprietary internet content that DCCC has purchased for your use.  You will develop critical thinking skills that are essential for college level research assignments. Learning these skills now will make your college career easier and prepare you for lifelong learning experiences.

To register find “DPR 116- Introduction to Online Research Strategies” in the course catalog.  These 3 credits can transfer to many schools, including Arcadia University, Cabrini, and Pierce Colleges.

Tell us what you think!

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

The library needs to know what you think about e-books, whether you use them, how you use them, why you don’t use them, and more. We’ve got surveys in the libraries at the Marple, Chester, and South East Center campuses. Please fill them out to let us know what you think. If you do, you can enter a raffle for a $10 gift card to Dunkin Donuts or Wawa.
