Live Reference Chat button

Click the link for research help 24/7!

Research help is available from academic librarians 24/7.

When a DCCC librarian is staffing the reference chat service, the ‘online’ version of the chat button will appear:

When DCCC librarians are offline, the chat button will link to Ask Here PA, a 24/7 reference chat service staffed by academic librarians.

Look for the chat service on our library webpages and Library Guides, in delaGATE and WebStudy (coming soon!), and in research databases.

Map of Liberia

Although the library has reduced its print collection during the transformation into the Learning Commons, part of that collection now lives on at a community college in Liberia in west Africa.

Faculty Reference Librarian Mary Ann Gillette worked with other librarians and library staff members Kathryn “KC” Campbell and Jennie Hutchins, staff members from Plant Operations, and Dr. Chris Tokpah, Associate Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness in order to prepare the books for shipment to Liberia.  Approximately 2,000 gently-used library books will be added to the collection of a new community college there.

Library team wins campus Breast Cancer Wiffle Ball Tournament!

Friday, October 5th, 2012

Staff and students representing the library won this year’s Breast Cancer Wiffle Ball Tournament. We first played the Phi Theta Kappa team and won. Then we moved onto the championship game against the campus bookstore — yes, the BOOKSTORE. It was an epic battle of fee books vs. free books. At the bottom of the last inning it was a nail-biting 1-run game with the library in the lead.  Carol “The Batwoman” Videon caught the last fly ball for the final out to win us the game. We won 4-3. Thank you to Bob “the Tiger” Muto,  Sarah “the Slugger” Hartman-Caverly, Erica “Ace at the Plate” Danowitz, and Carol “MVP of the year” Videon for the best game ever. We won and raised money for breast cancer research – a win-win for all!

Resources on Native Americans

Monday, October 4th, 2010

DCCC Librarians Erica Swenson Danowitz and Carol Videon have created a useful annotated webliography (i.e. a list of websites with helpful descriptions) on the history, culture, education, health and laws of Native Americans. The article appears in the September 2010 issue of College and Research Library News. If your assignment in English, Reading, History, Sociology, Psychology, or Political Science requires any information about indigenous Americans, this list will be invaluable. Congratulations to two hard-working librarians! (mg)
