Allied Health, Emergency Services and Nursing
Interactive Simulation Technology
The Nursing and Allied Health Departments have been fortunate to purchase two interactive simulators Sim Man and Sim Baby from the Laerdal Corporation. These simulators “breathe”, have heart, lung, and bowel sound capabilities and realistic vital signs. This technology allows the student to assess and treat a patient in a safe and supportive environment. Various scenarios are carried out allowing both student and instructor to experience different disease states. Debriefing after the scenario allows for exploration of positive and negative responses performed and discussion can lead both student and instructor to resolve how to improve patient care and assessment skills. Clinical instructors may schedule time with Sim Man or Sim Baby for their students as a possible enhancement to the clinical experience. Please contact Karen Troppman (610-325-2833) to set up an appointment.
